ThunderCore will undergo a hardfork to enhance its adaptability at block height:141853204 (10080,1,1), Date: 2023-09-06 10:11:12 +0800.

The following improvements will be implemented alongside the hardfork:

Revamped Gas Price Scheme through Voter Influence

We are introducing a new gas price scheme where the largest stakeholders will determine the gas price. This alteration is designed to make our gas price mechanism more flexible, enabling it to respond faster to changes in market demands while providing a better transaction experience for users and developers.

Increased BaseFee to Mitigate Pressure Attacks

While the affordable gas fees on the ThunderCore mainnet are advantageous for developers, excessively low gas fees can leave the network vulnerable to attacks and hinder the overall ecosystem’s growth. Presently, we are facing challenges from spam and garbage attacks, resulting in a noticeable decrease in the daily block count. Both POS-staking rewards and developers are consequently affected.

To counter these issues, we will be raising the BaseFee to enhance network security and prevent potential spam attacks. This measure is aimed at safeguarding the network from improper behaviors, ensuring transactions and smart contract executions take place within a more stable and reliable environment. The new BaseFee will be adjusted to 100 gwei, and the Priority fee will be changed to 1000 gwei.

Reduced RNG Gas Cost

In the previous hardfork, we increased the RNG gas cost by 50 times to mitigate self-generated volume in gambling games. However, since Dappradar / Dapp.com have already adjusted their mechanisms to avoid self-generated behaviors, coupled with the basefee adjustments that will also decrease excessive activity, we have decided to lower the RNG gas cost.

This hardfork will bring ThunderCore additional features and improvements, enhancing the overall network’s performance and security. We are eagerly anticipating witnessing the growth and development of the ThunderCore ecosystem through this upgrade.
